Email addresses collected will be used to communicate important information about online shopping privileges to authorized patrons.
ROUTINE USE(S): Your records may be disclosed outside of DoD pursuant to Title 5 U.S.C. §552a(b)(3) regarding DoD “Blanket Routine Uses” published at http://dpcld.defense.gov/Privacy/SORNsIndex/BlanketRoutineUses.aspx. This includes disclosure to contractors for improvement of service exchange programs, to incentive programs, and pursuant to 5 U.S.C. 552a (b)(12) to a consumer reporting agency. In addition, records may be disclosed to Federal agencies, and state, local and territorial governments, to U.S. Postal Service in order to provide claim and postal authorities with confirmation/certification of shipment for customer claims for damage or lost shipments and to audit firms under contract with the service exchange to collect delinquency accounts.
DISCLOSURE: Voluntary. However, failure to provide all the requested information may result in denial of access to service exchange websites and failure to respond to problems.
Privacy and Security Policy1. The VetVerify.org website is provided on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense resale entities utilizing Veterans information provided by the Department of Manpower Data Center to establish online shopping privileges of honorably discharged Veterans.
2. Verification through this site is intended solely for the purpose of identifying veteran eligibility for service exchange online shopping privileges. It does not confer or imply endorsement for those veteran benefits granted under Title 38 of the U.S. Code by the Department of Veteran Affairs. Questions concerning veteran benefits should be directed to the Department of Veteran Affairs.
3. For site management, information in the form of server log files is collected for statistical purposes. This government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas.
4. For security purposes, and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or to otherwise cause damage, including attempts to deny service to authorized users.
5. Attempts to upload or change information on this service without authorization or to download and copy with the intent to defraud are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
6. Cookie Disclaimer. VetVerify.org collects both the information users provide and information provided by others. This includes information that users provide when submitting a verification form as well as cookies you acquire when visiting VetVerify.org. VetVerify also relies upon information received from other sources to personalize user experience, supplement existing user information and identify fraud. VetVerify makes every attempt to limit the information collected to only that which is needed to support the services provide on VetVerify.org.
7. Opting in and out of communications. When an email is submitted as part of the verification form, the user consents to the receipt of communications from VetVerify.org. The user's email may also be provided to select government entities including the Defense Manpower Data Center, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the Navy Exchange, the Coast Guard Exchange and the Marine Corps Exchange. The user can opt-out of any and all communications at any time; however, he or she might be required to opt-out of each entity separately in order to customize his or her communication experience.
